ENGAGE Team: Mott MacDonald
Infrastructure for economic growth in Afghanistan: ENGAGE has been
undertaking a number of projects in Afghanistan as part of a
programme to invest in infrastructure, thereby encouraging economic
growth and achieving poverty reduction. These projects have
included detailed design and tendering for a new road and for the
rehabilitation of a hydropower plant and expansion of its power
distribution network. There has also been significant work in the
water resources sector: identifying priority works for irrigation
system rehabilitation, providing capacity building in irrigation
management, and scoping a river basin master plan. Other projects
include a feasibility study for a micro hydropower station on the
irrigation system, and advice on the development of an agricultural
business park.
